Facebook just got a new home!

Facebook, in an event on 4 April 2013 announced their new Facebook Home. There had already been rumors of a new "Facebook OS" to be announced at the April 4 event but that turned out to be false.

Instead Facebook came up with a home-screen replacement launcher downloadable right from the Google Play Store. The new Facebook Home, according to Facebook, is a lightweight home-screen replacement launcher.

The user-interface is quite neat and is a lot based on photos. The new Facebook Home comes with chat heads that are essentially lightweight circles consisting of your friend's profile pictures hovering over whatever you are doing. The new Facebook Home also features a new clean App-Launcher which can be edited to keep the most recent and
favorite apps.

Facebook also launched the facebook home program that lets manufacturers to tie up with facebook to make the best combination for your "Facebook Home" Device. Facebook also introduced HTC First, the first phone that comes with pre-installed and pre-optimized Facebook Home. HTC First is the first phone to come out with integrated Facebook Home and is manufactured by HTC in collaboration with AT&T.

HTC First supports AT&T's LTE network as well.

Facebook said that the Facebook Home will be available for download from the Google Play Store by April 12. The HTC First will be available by April 14 and is up for pre-order right now.
